We survived the Wine Reception....

Just in case you were wondering, yes we did survive the wine reception. So much wine so little time! We really enjoyed the evening and the people. It is a great way to enjoy the wine and interact with so many in the industry.

We left the VVA meeting with our heads full of new ideas and more knowledge. We narrowed down our tasting room glass selection, worked on label design, started choosing our bottles, lined up our cork vendor, and bought our sprayer. Mike even bought himself some pretty fancy clippers. I was smart enough not to buy a pair....that way he is the only one able to do the clipping :-)! I think he caught on to my plan though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a pair arrive in the mail some day soon.

Things have been busy in the vineyard this week. Mike has been working on finishing up our winter pruning, the boys have been finishing hanging the rest of the trellis wire, and Mike is getting the invisible dog fence working so I can start training Rowdy in his collar. We are starting to see green grass peeking up in the vineyard letting us know Spring is just around the corner. We have enjoyed the rest these winter months have given us but we are excited to dig in to the Spring routine. We have 750 Seyval plants scheduled to arrive in April. Mike will spend March preparing the soil, setting the trellis posts, and running irrigation wire. Having gone through one growing season we are looking forward to using our hard earned knowledge this year preventing the mistakes made last year. We will be ready for the weeds, Japanese beetles, deer, and hopefully any other critter that may bother us. Armed with pesticides, irrigation, deer fence, and Rowdy we are looking forward to a great growing season.
